Mobile Processors
Processors are used for laptops which are built a little differently from the desktop and server counterparts. They need to consume less power, which is limited in a mobile platform. Cooling options in laptops are limited: which requires the CPU to emit as little heat as possible. Two main Cpu Manufacturers are AMD & INTEL, both have a slew of products for mobile segments. These processors range from single cores in older models to quad cores in newer ones.AMD's mobile processors range includes products like dual-core Turion64x2 and Anthlon 64 X2, & the single core Mobile Sempron, Mobile Anthlon64,and Turion64. Intel markets mobile platforms under the name of centrino, which collectively includes processor, chipset & wireless network adaptor. Processor used in the Centrino platform are Pentium M, Core Solo, Core duo, and Core 2 Duo. Centrino platforms has several implementations, like carmel, Sonoma, Napa, Santa Rosa, and the proposed Montevina and calpella.
